King’s Flute Choir
Flute Rental
Starting lessons and not sure whether to buy a flute yet? Rent one from us instead. A few months in you will know whether the flute is for you, and you will be a far better judge of what to buy when you do. This is for new students only, and it is the concert flute we rent. We’re putting the scheme together now, so tell us what you need and we’ll come to you first when it opens.
Who it is for
New students beginning flute lessons, who would rather not spend several hundred dollars on an instrument before knowing whether they will stick with it. If you already play and need an alto, bass or contrabass for a concert, this scheme is not for you, but do speak to us anyway.
Concert flute
The standard C flute, and the instrument you will learn on. Serviced and checked before it goes out. It is the only instrument in the scheme: we do not rent piccolo, alto, bass or contrabass.
How it will work
The shape of the scheme. Details are still being settled.
Tell us what you need
Who the flute is for, roughly how long you would want it, and when your lessons start.
We confirm availability and rate
Stock is limited, so it won’t always be immediate. We’ll be straight with you about waiting rather than leave you guessing.
Collection and a condition check
We go through the instrument together and note its condition, so there’s no argument about it later.
Play it
Routine servicing is on us. Damage beyond ordinary wear isn’t, the terms will spell out exactly where that line sits.
Return, extend, or buy
We’re considering letting rental fees count towards a purchase. Not yet confirmed.
- Rates and deposits. Nothing is priced. Registering below doesn’t commit you to anything.
- Minimum and maximum rental periods. Likely monthly, but not decided.
- Stock. We’re working out how many concert flutes to hold, which is partly what this page is for.
- Insurance and liability. Being worked through before anything goes out on loan.

Tell us what you’d want
No commitment, and nothing to pay. This tells us how many flutes to hold and who to contact first when rates are set. If you are not yet taking lessons with us, say so and we will sort that out at the same time.
